On another note, I had done so much research to find a nice spot to camp while we were here, and had trouble finding anything really nice online, so I picked this place for location more than anything. For days, I just couldn’t get over the fact that our water might have been tainted. My partner confirmed this as well - and then we realized, the people next to us had just finished dumping their sewer. ![]() But in the morning, I thought ‘something smells funny’ and when I went to brush my teeth - BLECK - what happened? The water is DISGUSTING. We had full hookups, and the first time I used the water to brush my teeth in our camper it was fine. Every night, a family of deer wandered through the campsite, so that was nice! Now the part that still concerns me. It was strange! Well, Horse Thief is not much different, definitely a family run operation, but larger than most and off the main highway. You drive by A TON of these tiny places right off the road, where there is a house, a barn and about 10 camping spots. In the Black Hills of South Dakota, everyone just adds a small RV park to their property. ![]()
